The Saturdays do Baby Showers too!

The Saturdays are in full swing organising a baby shower for bandmate Rochelle Humes. Frankie, Una, Mollie and Vanessa say they want to throw a “memorable” do for their pregnant pal and have been talking about giving this shower a US theme and are getting lots of American sweets flown in specially.”Perfect for any Pregnant woman.

Meanwhile Rochelle and hubby, JLS member Marvin Humes, have been spotted baby clothes shopping. They bought two big bags full of baby items at a store in Watford, but kept onlookers guessing by buying both pink and blue outfits!

New Egg and Sperm Race!

Pin the tail on the donkey has had an official revamp for the baby shower community. The classic game has now been evolved into a game for adults to play too!

This game requires you to pin the sperm onto the egg. Simply write your guests names onto the individual sperm stickers and hand to each player. Blindfold each player in turn and turn them around once or twice. Have them step forward and using only one hand, stick the sperm onto the poster bearing in mind that you need to be near the blue egg. After each player takes a turn, the one who sticks the sperm nearest to the egg is the winner. A brilliant way to bring the life (literally!!) to any Baby shower party.

Olympics Baby Boom.

After the Fantastic summer of sport generated by the outstanding London 2012 Olympics, the Mayor stood in front of the Queen Victoria Memorial, the athletes behind him, and he thanked them for making people talk to each other on the Tube and for bringing the country together. “You not only inspired a generation,” he tells Victoria Pendleton, Sir Chris Hoy, Ellie Simmonds et al, “but you probably helped to create one as well.”

One midwife at the Manchester infirmary stated that there are a lot of new women registering, she tells us at our “booking-in” appointment, far more than normal. What is going on? Is there something in the water? No, it simply has to be an Olympic Baby Boom – or, as one friend put it, “babies conceived in the love bubble that was created by the Opening Ceremony”

Janice Hillier, a consultant clinical psychologist at the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships, explains that a national sense of optimism can act as an aphrodisiac. “When you experience feelings of novelty, interest and motivation your brain releases dopamine and noradrenaline, which in turn increase levels of oxytocin and vasopressin – chemicals associated with arousal. On a neurobiological level, the Olympic baby boom makes sense.”
