As more and more of us have been to 1 or more baby showers here in the UK, we are looking for something different, new and what our friends and family haven’t seen before.

Whoppa of a Baby Born!!

George is one of the biggest ever babies to be born in the UK, weighing a whopping 15lb 7oz.

George was born after a 16 hour labour during which he nearly died and is double the average weight of a newborn baby. Mum Jade Packer was completely shocked as she never expected him to be so big as her midwife had indicated that he may weigh around 10lb, which itself is a large baby.

George was born on 11th February 2013, which was 11 days after his due date.  Due to his broad shoulders he got stuck during delivery and because of this was only given a 10% chance of survival. This caused him to stop breathing for approximately 20 minutes, but fortunately nurses at the Gloucestershire Royal Infirmary managed to resuscitate him.

After spending 2 weeks in the specialist baby unit at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol, George was allowed home with Mum Jade and dad Ryan King.

After just a month at home, George is already over 2ft tall and is wearing baby clothes for a 6 month old.  But this is a happy ending and both Mum and dad are said to be overjoyed, despite the worries as George entered into the world.

Worldpay down on Monday 25th March 2013

Apologies to our shower my baby customers who experienced problems making payments on Monday 25th March 2013. This was due to the online Worldpay banking system being down for most of the day. Worldpay, which used to be owned by RBS plc is one of the largest processing companies in the world and operates in over 40 countries and has until yesterday an excellent service record.  Hence shower my baby has chosen them to handle securely it’s card processing operations for many years. The system is now back to normal and no security issue with card details occurred, as expected from a company of it’s size and reputation. They are undergoing a full investigation.

Baby Showers Hit British Wallets!

After Halloween and the school prom, there is now another trend coming across the Atlantic and hitting British wallets – And this is  Baby Showers.

The originally all-American celebration made popular by shows such as Friends, has gathered pace among British women and it is now being the norm to have a baby themed party before the birth as part of the whole pregnancy experience.  This is being made even more popular and a British must have as we see that Pippa Middleton is planning a baby shower for her sister Kate, The Duchess of Cambridge.

Women spend a nappy-filling £220 million a year on baby shower gifts, baby shower decorations, drinks food and of course the all important glamorous outfit to wear for the occasion.

It is of course lovely to take a gift to any party so for a baby shower, why not take a gift for Mum To Be as the baby will receive so many gifts from well wishers and family when he or she is born.  Mum To Be will be delighted to receive a pamper voucher that she can use to treat herself once baby is born.  Or perhaps some lovely pampering organic products for her to use on herself.  Go on spoil her rotten!

Could It Be Our First Royal Baby Shower?

It’s looking like we might have our first ever Royal Baby Shower as Pippa Middleton is said to be planning one for her sister Kate.


If so, Kate Middleton, 31 will be the 1st Royal in history to have a baby shower hosted for her and this will be thanks to her sister Pippa.  As we know, organising parties is not a new task for Pippa Middleton as she is well known for releasing a book last year called Celebrate, which is all about event planning.

The Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth in July this year so Pippa is planning to host the party for Kate in may and is hoping that this will take place in the Middleton family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire.

Kate, like any expectant mother will be very excited and having a baby shower seems to be the modern thing that we now do here in the UK.  And as we all know, Kate wants her life to be as normal as it can possibly be given her position.

A baby shower for Kate will be a lovely occasion, celebrating the imminent arrival of a royal child.  The question is – how do you find a baby shower present that Kate doesn’t already have?
