Singer Elton John and his partner David Furnish have been nominated to win the Celebrity Dads of the Year award. The first time fathers welcomed Zachary into the world last Christmas thanks to the help of a surrogate mother and are delighted to be in the running for the honour. The award is for the celebrity dad who has impressed the nation by balancing a hectic public life with the demands of parenting. Elton has said that although he is famous he really wants Zachary to have a normal upbringing. He said the couple do not intend to spoil the baby instead they want him to have a fun and carefree childhood.
