A family from Warwickshire are saying thank you to medics after they spotted a life threatening condition in their 8 day old baby. Ellis Hobbs was born with an extremely rare condition called TAPVD or total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage where veins take blood to the wrong side of the heart. Ellis was taken into surgery when he was just 8 days old and had a 4 hour operation. Ellis was able to use one of just 20 beds in the heart unit of Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital. Medics at Birmingham Children’s Hospital managed to ‘rewire’ his heart and Ellis who is now three months old, has made a complete recovery.
